Oinomikado Munezane (大炊御門宗実)

Munezane OINOMIKADO (1343-June 21, 1404) was Kugyo (top court official) who lived from the period of the Northern and Southern Courts to the Muromachi period. He served three generations of Emperor Gomurakami (the 97th), Emperor Chokei (the 98th) and Emperor Gokameyama (the 99th), and was promoted to Juichii (Junior 1st Rank) Dainagon (a chief councilor of state). His father was Fuyunobu OINOMIKADO. His mother was the daughter of Sanehira SAIONJI. His younger brothers were Nobutsune OINOMIKADO and Fuyumune OINOMIKADO.

He became Jusanmi (Junior 3rd Rank) and was raised to Kugyo in 1358. After the experience of Echigo no Gon no kami (a provincial governor of Echigo Province) and Gon Chunagon (a provisional vice-councilor of state), he became Gon Dainagon (a provisional major councilor) in 1363. He became Ukone no daisho (a major captain of the Right Division of Inner Palace Guards) in 1389. He entered into the priesthood in 1402. He died on June 21, 1404.
